How living pages stay current
Circuit
A page that carries this seal does not store its numbers in prose. Every figure lives in a dated, sourced table, is read again on a regular schedule, and is approved by me before it changes.
How a figure changes
Stage 1
The source
The company that sets a figure. A rate card, a fee page, a live listing. Nothing secondhand.
Stage 2
A reading
On a regular schedule the sources are read again and the page they were read from is kept.
Stage 3
A review
Every figure that moved is laid out beside its source. Nothing has been published yet.
Stage 4
I approve it
I read the sheet, set a value by hand where I must and say why, and approve. No reading is published without that.
Stage 5
The page updates
The page, its JSON and its history change together, because they all read the same approved lap.
Stage 6
The history records it
Every lap is kept and chained to the one before. Change an old one and the chain breaks in public.
Four promises
- Every figure carries a source and the day it was read. If I cannot point to where a number came from, it is not on the page.
- A person approves every change. Nothing reaches a page by itself.
- The history is public and append only. Every lap is published and cannot be edited after the fact.
- The page says when it was last checked. An old figure is dated as old, never hidden behind a fresh one.
Circuit runs The Going Rate on this site. It was built first for Sleep Around Points, which I own and which the report measures by the same rules as every other company. How that is handled is on the disclosures page, and the scoring rules are on the Method page.
