The short version. I collect as little as possible, I never sell anything about you, and everything this site does with your data is listed below. When something changes, it changes on this page first.
What this site collects
If you join Starlane Observatory, I collect your email address. That is the only personal information this site asks for, and it is used for one thing, sending you what you signed up for.
The site also measures usage, things like page views, traffic sources, and which country visits come from. Google Analytics sets a first party cookie so a returning visitor is counted once, not twice. No advertising cookies, no cross site tracking, no profiles.
Your light or dark theme choice is saved in your own browser and never leaves it.
If you unlock a gated report, the site sets one cookie so you do not have to type the password again. It holds nothing about you.
The services behind the site
Three companies process data on my behalf, and only what they need to do their jobs.
If I ever add another service, an analytics tool included, it gets named on this page before it goes live.
Your email, your call
Every email includes an unsubscribe link that works on the first click. I never sell, rent, or share the list with anyone. If you want your address and anything else I hold about you deleted, write to hello@michaelstarlane.com and it is done.

Report data is licensed CC BY 4.0. Use it, chart it, quote it, and cite Michael Starlane when you do. Everything else on the site, the writing and the artwork, is © Michael Starlane, all rights reserved.
Nothing here is financial advice. I show you the numbers and where they came from, as they stood on their data date. What you do with them is yours. The site links to other websites, and what happens on those sites is between you and them.
